Service Description

If you would like to meet like minded people, find out a little about gardening or have expertise in gardening and would like to share this with your community. Even if you'd just like to read a book and make tea or have a chat, come along and join us in getting the old farmhouse garden back into a good shape for use by the community. Drop In: No need to come for the full 2 hours you are welcome to join us for any time between 9.30-11.30. What to bring: Yourself Clothing you don't mind getting a bit mucky. If you have a few gardening tools or gloves, this would be great as we're making do with what we can find or what people donate. Biscuits welcome! The old Farmhouse garden 'Towle Memorial Garden' is a jewel of old Bilborough and deserves to have a little love and care. We are going to be spending a couple of hours each Thursday morning in the garden, tidying, planning, hopefully planting seeds and flowers to prepare the space for spring so we can reap the rewards and use the space to have gatherings, run workshops and events and generally have it as a peaceful safe space for the community. All are welcome, if bringing children or adults needing additional support they will be the responsibility of the parent/ carer or guardian throughout the session. Children and adults with additional needs are welcome, there is usually a corner of the garden to find space away from the group if it is needed and the garden itself is quite enclosed. Access: Parking is available behind Sheila Russell Community Centre, two minutes from the entrance to the garden. Bus Stops close by: See bus providers: ct4n.co.uk nctx.co.uk NCT 33 & 33B NCT 77 & 77C CT4N - L4 Local Link Garden access: There is a solid path around the garden suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs however the path is bumpy in places where the tree routes have lifted it. There are benches at regular intervals around the garden. The lawns are uneven and there is a small pond. Toilets / accessible toilet and tea and coffee making facilities are accessible in the Sheila Russell Centre just round the corner from the garden.
